El Cantar de los Nibelungos: It really just is that. That is also the point, this edition made a real story out of the rhyme verses.
I was delighted with this book; however, towards the end I did find it all to escalate very quickly and felt tired with it. Books whose authorship is purposefully withheld should be attributed instead to Anonymous.

This is a good window into medieval life. There is no suggestion that this is the nature of women, or that this is editodial happens when women get power. Reading it again, as an adult, cantaf me with this satisfying and gratifying vibe of nostalgia and amusement. On the other hand, I did love the plot of the first part. They fight wars, but there is no seeking of Lebensraum from their neighbours.
I found myself missing many details in the text and having to reread quite a bit. We would also be struggling to find much to support Fascism here either.
The Norse version in my modern opinion is vastly superior, with its intervention by pagan gods in a causative way, with absolutely nothing for modern states to use to their own advantage and the world’s disadvantage, and really, no hero standing out as different from the heroic desire of all Vikings: However, while the poem is renowned, it has never acquired the same status as The Iliad, the poem it most closely resembles.
Sexist, horrific, and endlessly vengeful, this tale turns me off. Also, it reads like the transcript of a declamation, which makes complete sense given the oral history of these poems, the way they were created and the purposes they were created for. And maybe someday I’ll even give it a try in german – the verse may make quite evitorial bit of difference. However, the Nibelungenlied is not the origin of the jibelungos it just happens to be the oldest version to have best nnibelungos the test of times.
Compared other medieval epics, this text seemed strangely detailed. However even he is subservient to another king. ComiXology Thousands of Dd Comics. This is probably a nit-picky thing, but for some reason, the introduction to my edition is listed after the main text, not before, which was kind of annoying. However I doubt that the poet himself would accept any of these interpretations. The note in the back of the book are on the scholarly end of things I read them but you may decide not to.

The many flaws in The Nibelunglied can make it a frustrating read. This would lend his fate some pathos if it were not for the fact that it simply is not true.
I really like this and in this edition it was good readable. Paperbackpages.

Maybe I’ll just rewatch the horrible Sword of Xanten instead. The back of my copy reads that it is an epic tale of murder and revenge. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. I highly doubt that it even is the best version that’s ever existed. There are some really great concepts here, and the main characters all attain the status of legend before it’s all said and done.
