It was far too melodramatic. They really needed google badly. While all of the other characthers can be described as sour potatoes and in some cases even as a dish of tuna toppped with extra salt. If you like intricate, lengthy forays into logic or character motivations, then this book is probably going to disappoint. The characters are supposed to be smart, but it takes them pages to figure out the most simplest dugitale things.

Anyway, the concept is still very interesting and genius, but the execution was very bad, along with the writing-style. With unending action, intrigues and a fabulous plot Digital Fortress is an example of the techno-thriller at its very best.

There are lots of twists and turns and heaps of action – often suspending reality, but fun nevertheless! I have always loved Dan’s ability in keeping the reader on the edge and making him too run against the time to solve the puzzles and unveil the mystery.

Needless to say, this leads to all kinds of trouble, and in the end the entire “Crypto” building of the NSA catches on fire and I read this book a while ago, and recently read a review of someone slating Dan Brown for The Da Vinci Code, which triggered me to add this book to my shelf and add a review.


Brown is currently at work on a new book as well as the Columbia Pictures film version of his most recent novel. The only rating I’m giving is for the plot twist. Um, not sure I understand how someone is a genius and then suddenly isn’t a genius. Maybe forteressw just because I’m not that savvy in the things he wrote about, but I choose to think otherwise. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. There’s a lot of information that doesn’t really bring much into the book. I read them because they are entertaining, period.

The plot was good, the purpose was good, the encryption methods and some terminology was good, but the way he explained those encryption ciphers, made all t I liked the da Vinci code.
