The way Gavalda brings them together is very clever, and the way she takes the flaws in their characters and weaves in a realisation about friendship and belonging, is delightful. She draws Mamadou, a big African lady from the cleaning company and one of her closest friends and Vincent, a drug addict to whom she offered her old attic room for free and she contacts her old art dealers Mathilde and Pierre.
I’m looking forward to reading more of Gavalda’s work now.

Paperbackpages. I almost couldn’t bring myself to read this because of that. I just don’t like it when they’re predictable because it’s formulaic and not very challenging to me as a story.

Hunting and Gathering made me miss having conversations with my old roommate from France. I started reading this with a certain amount of apprehension due to it’s overwhelming popularity anything widely and annaa acclaimed usually makes me suspicious and because of the obvious feel-good connotations.
I see that 10 Goodreads members have shelved this book as “chick lit”. Gavala is miserable and he doesn’t know what to do about it. I was surprised to see Anr references like Shrek and Angelina Jolie here and there, but they o I was worried that once I finished this book I would be filled with sadness over leaving these characters. I would have ditched her.

She manages to stay away from Franck and she starts drawing again. Short strands of her hair tickled his nostrils. It seemed like the point of the book and the pleasure to be derived from it was in watching the tetrahedron change shape. Please and thank you.
Somewhere within these pages, the main character finds herself at a hathering, pouring over a collection of the French cartoonist Sempe’s drawings as I best know for his work in The New Yorker. Nonetheless, as far as romantic comedies go, guess who lives happily ever after? I was sad to put it down, but the overall experience was so satisfying that I would highly recommend this book to others.

Comprised of a starving artist, her shy, aristocratic neighbor, his obnoxious but talented roommate, and a neglected grandmother, this curious, damaged quartet may be hopeless apart, but together, they may just be able to face the world. You could picture the way they appeared to the world, but also the inner beauty and I loved this book.
The ending of Hunting and Gathering is a little bit too well-wrapped up, but I didn’t mind. Recommended to Jamie by: Want to Read Currently Reading Read. I had recently seen a poster for the movie and decided on that that I wouldn’t go to it. Es un libro sobre cuatro protagonistas, cuat 4 Estrellitas. I think in a lot of ways I expect too much out of them, especially when I compare them to so many of their predecessors totally unfair of me, I know, but that’s how I roll.
