I have an iPad and a kindle and if I can’t do what I want with them then I generally don’t do it at all but after reading Evenfall 1 and 2 on my iPad I knew I had to get the series transferred so I cleaned away the cobwebs and wiped away the dust and actually used my computer for something companyy than playing the occasional Region 1 DVD.

She abused her position as his doctor, for her own gain, which was disgusting. I only cared about my life after he was in it. It seems like as soon as he let himself care for Boyd and realised how much he already cared about Carhart, that the flood-gates open and all the old evil flowed out.

This fascination with the sounds produced in traditional Japanese music brought Takemitsu to his idea of ma usually translated as the space between two objects[56] which ultimately informed his understanding of the intense quality of traditional Japanese music as a whole:. He expressed his unusual stance toward compositional theory early on, his lack of respect for the “trite rules of music, rules that are This principle motif recurs throughout the piece in various guises. For Takemitsu, however, by now quite familiar with his own native musical tradition, there was a relationship between “the sounds of the gamelan, the tone of the kapachithe unique scales and rhythms by which they are formed, and Japanese traditional music which had shaped such a large part of my sensitivity”.

So when I realized that this book was split by her two possible futures, it immediately punched me in kazie gut. A tiny world inside our world, with supernatural people and their supernatural powers and advanced technologies?

How can I argue with that look?

I can’t explain it, I guess that’s just the way my brain works. Or not so quiet after all. I can no longer think straight. She could also tell her to keep away from Bobby because she saw something really dangerous about him. Addie is a Searcher so when faced with a choice she is able to look in the future to see the alternate outcomes which are supposed to help her determine what to choose.

This debut novel, while not breaking new ground in the popular field of paranormal teen fiction, will appeal to those who enjoy the genre, and it is a welcome change from vampires and zombies. But I should start from the beginning. Pivot Point was really an enigma for me because I just couldn’t tell what genre it would fall in.

Instead of 2 different Wills, we had 2 of the same Addie in a different setting.

If not another book, a movie maybe? So many times I found myself really hooked so much so that as I was carrying pivo the most mundane of tasks throughout the day, my eyes diverted to the book across the room.

Learning what everyone could do, as well as their advanced technology promised limitless entertainment. Refresh and try plvot. She cares about her loved ones, she cares about doing things right, she would do whatever it takes to keep things in place even when it can cost her her own wewt and happiness and safety. It helps to have many eyes on a book. I was easily able to follow along with both timelines and while I enjoyed one more than the other, I thought both were extremely well written.

Pivot Point (Pivot Point, #1) by Kasie West

It was very dif This book had me hooked from the beginning and it was the ideal book to push me into reading more. Y’all I haven’t read a book that had me so absorbed and hooked in such a long pivor.

The whole Compound idea is very interesting and fun to read about, each person has a power or ability. We all wished, at one point or other, that we were able to move things with our mind, or know wset another person is thinking, so this reality had me hooked from the start. It is so beautiful and I love how it shows the reflected futures, even though I wish the girl had curly hair in one side and a stripe of blue in the other.

This side of the story was more interesting because this life was new and different to Addie.

Pivot Point

Please try again later. Once I started to really focus on the stories as the paths started inching closer to the collision of time when it was ‘one or the other,’ I realized that Addie was going to get hosed, no matter which path she took. It was devastating when we finished the books. Addie has to pick who to live with. Really good story with lots of potential, but in the end, the dislikes ultimately won out, thus the reason for my average rating instead of 5 stars. His lips tickle my neck as they move along it.

Read more Read less. I just wanted Trevor time. What makes it even more interesting is that, as one reality happens, the events of the other still come about, but without Addie in its direct path.

Jan 12, Elena rated it liked it Shelves: Since this is a more aest book, though, let’s go ahead and talk about the characters. I just wanted to make you aware.

Who pushes their friend off a stage to make them stumble into a guy she wants them to be with? Mi ha lasciato un po’ con l’amaro in bocca. Addie has the unique and thought-provoking ability of being able to see both sides of the coin. I eat Junior Mints. Or so she thought. The end will not disappoint. And not when the relationship pointlessly spans half the book without Addie really figuring out whether there’s any consequence to her picking one parent to live with over the other.

Each choice brings with it a series of complications and a lot of hurt. But still, the wait for book two will be painful for me, no doubt about that. Pivot Point is one of those novels that really sticks with you. Which path will Addison take?

Addison lives in a little community that is very different from our world. This is how he was meant to come off, though, so I am not saying this with negativity. Customers who bought this item also bought. Is there something wrong with me if I admitted that I swooned for both Duke and Trevor?

I had also many problems with this book – the eye-roll-worthy tropes, my lack of deeper connection to the characters and their relationships, some generic parts of the story and Duke. Even a dystopian sort of novel can become fluffy when she writes it.

Barring these classic works, I haven’t really bothered with verse, especially when it comes to modern writers. Vikram Seth, a great poet.

This book is about various stories from around the world about animals but written in verse. A wonderful, wonderful read. Oct 28, Subramaniam Avinash rated it really liked it. Though I must tell you I haven’t anything of Vikram Seth apart from bj. Of course, there are fables here which offer plenty of personal lessons.

So much for her idle boast. Link to the Book Review at ALOP Leo rates this book 4 stars and says that the stories told through the poetry are quite wonderful to read, and that they leave the reader with a smile.

The book contains ten tales in verse, written by Seth on a day that was too hot for him to concentrate on his work. The reader will put the book down drowned in thoughts. Seth’s poetry actually reminds me of Roald Dahl’s fabulously funny verses from his book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Beastly tales from here and there. His first full-fledged verse work and its quite brilliant. Keep this for one of those rainy days literally! And so it went on until all ten of these beastly tales were born”.

The last story was superb.

You will meet again the tortoise and the hare, and you may recognize the greedy crocodile, but there are other tales with characters not so familiar with strange names and traits, but each with a message that can be comprehended by young and old.

Two adaptations of Folktales from India, two from Greece including the tortoise and the haretwo from Ukraine and two beasfly tales from Vikram Seth.

Some of its stories are very much in the vein of George Orwell’s Animal Farmwhich we know was a hard-hitting political allegory. To ask other readers questions about Beastly Tales from Here and Thereplease sign up. Personally, I didn’t like the film much and suspect the book is far superior.

Beastly Tales from Here and There

I enjoyed “Beastly Tales”. That’s what I am doing.

The voices of these animals are so strong and impressive that one simply cannot finish the book without being affected. We read this over a period of a few months, dipping into it every now and then, so perhaps if we’d have read it a bit more regularly it wouldn’t have felt as one trick ponyish. The stories resemble Aesop’s fables and that delights the reader. Which is why, this quite simply escaped me and in any case, I’m yet to really sink my teeth into any of Vikram Seth’s works.

While two of the stories come from India, there are other fables taken from China, Ukraine and Greece.

Dec 08, Sukanto rated it it was amazing. I would love to hear this read aloud. Account Options Sign in. All the tales contain wit, wisdom and whimsy in roughly equal measure, with the final one a particular highlight and parable for our times, to be ignored at our peril.

Oct 05, Plum-crazy rated it really liked it Shelves: It was so much fun to re-read these Tales – with all the rhyming words and the conversations between animals. However, the effect and impact wanes a little through the 10 tales and since the last is the longest it felt a little bit of a chore to finish.
